How will boards get made?
Interested organisations will be able to pay for a board to be created from the module sets.
In the early stages this will be more expensive than in the later stages of the project because the risk in the design is higher. However the sharing of PCB layouts and schematics will lower the design and manufacturing risk over time.
The initial emphasis will be on creating a development board that contains a basic set of modules and the creation of a PCB that has a modular embeddable format.
The organisation driving the design will be responsible for the following:
- The specification of the PCB outline.
- The module mix.
- The manufacture of prototypes.
- Maintaining the Open Design process.
