The balloonboard.org mailing list exists to facilitate discussion on all aspect of balloon - use, adding hardware, software problems or suggestions, future design directions and general help and discussion. It is currently a fairly low-traffic list.
The lists are run using mailman. You can sign up here,search or view the archives, and follow svn commits.
IRC
The balloon IRC channel exists to provide a place for realtime discussion.
